31 Days of Wishes – Every Child Should Know Love

“…one most important of all the things we can give to them is unconditional love. Not a love that depends on anything at all except that they are our children.”
~ Rosaleen Dickson

Christmas Day has come and gone and I was left with one overwhelming impression. Regardless of parenting styles, personalities, qualifications or issues, my children are loved. The love is shown in different ways but they are loved, and they know they’re loved.

Just to clarify, I’m not referring to how many gifts they got or how much money was spent because I don’t believe that matters. Some people show love in that manner because they don’t know any other way. Some don’t want to make the effort so they try to buy love instead. I’m not talking about that here. I’m referring to parents who just want their children to be happy.

I wish every child should know a love like that. Especially the kind that makes children secure in knowing a parent will do anything to protect them and try to guide them into happy, productive adults.

Imagine the type of future we would have if every child grew to adulthood secure of their place in the world.

About the Author: Raised with hopes, dreams and a desire to make my mark on the world, I set out with excitement and the desire to contribute to the "Greater Good." I took a side trip to raise children and support my husband's career only to realize that "I" got lost along the way. I believe we could have traveled together if we'd both understood the importance of equality and the necessity of evolving roles in the family. My dream is that in the future, all couples will understand the importance of supporting each other fully in word AND deed so each can live in a respectful relationship filled with truth and love.
